Around the Bay

The HSB POA board invites all residents to a meeting on July 13 at 4 P.M. at Quail Point. Due to increasing demand for use of the facility, the board has been working hard to finalize plans to expand the building. POA President Tom Schmersahl appointed former board member Fred Owen, board member Steve Jorden and General Manager Tom Engler as Q.P.

If it’s not the supreme challenge, it might be hard to find similar ones to, say, fill a bridge table, or round out a singing group which wants to be known as a trio. Larry Coker is going back to school—not to get any more degrees. He’d like to get a few more wins. Coker is UT-San Antonio’s first-ever coach of the new football program.

A proposal to create a private marina surrounded by estate sized lots from what are currently multi-family land-locked lots on the edge of Applehead Island took front and center at Tuesday afternoon’s Horseshoe Bay City Council meeting. Not all memories are from long ago and far away. They are as close as just the moment before now. For 10 months the Chancel Choir at The Church at Horseshoe Bay has been creating memories for the church’s congregation every Sunday morning; sometimes twice on special Sundays. The church’s Board of Trusteees hosted a Special Coffee Fellowship honoring the choir and the Minister of Music Larry Sherwood on Sunday, July 4, to say “thanks” from all the members for the choir ...

Good Evening Horseshoe Bay – As you can tell from my salutation, this will be a cocktail hour version of Council Comments. Tomorrow will be a busy day with an 8 o’clock Horseshoe Bay Sports Buff meeting followed by our initial 2011 council budget meeting at nine. Busy—Busy—Busy! Letters to the Editor

I am concerned about the proposed solution to the low water crossing on Bay West Boulevard. As I understand it, apparently a two arch precast concrete system is proposed with a cost of $600,000 +/-. There are less costly and less intrusive systems employing precast concrete members readily available. One such system was developed for secondary roads such as Bay West Boulevard.

FREEDOM – What a great privilege. It is inspiring to be a part of the 4th of July Celebration in Horseshoe Bay. Thanks to the POA volunteers who always give their time and energy so that we can enjoy the land and boat parades and the all –American activities at Quail Point.

What's Going On...

Thursday, July 8 Dinner Bingo for HSB residents-6 p.m. at Quail Point, dinner catered by Moe’s. Game begins 6:45 p.m. Bring your beverage of choice, decaf coffee and iced tea provided. $9 includes meal, entry fee and a bingo card ($1 each.) Reservation necessary, call Dianne Jones at 598-4528.
