The Pedernales Electric Cooperative Board of Directors has terminated the employment contract of General Manager Juan Garza. At its regular monthly meeting on June 15, the Horseshoe Bay City Council accepted a new annexation petition relating to 480 acres adjacent to the eastern boundary of Skywater on the north side of Hwy 71. This petition was properly signed by the legal owner of the property, 71 Landholdings LP. Last month, a similar annexation petition was submitted for the same tract, but was signed by an individual, Robin Rodriguez, who is not the owner of the property.

The “call” for the convention of the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) began Thursday June 10 when County Chairman Jim Simmons sent delegates this comment: “We will be living the history made in Dallas. Enjoy the biggest political state rally in these United States.” It was non-stop activities for over 7,500 delegates (not including guests and volunteers) on Friday and Saturday June 11 and 12, with the gavel finally ending it all at 8:30 p.m.

Good morning Horseshoe Bay – It is 7 in the morning on June 16 and I believe I can safely forecast that the long, hot days of summer have arrived. Forecasting the obvious being one of my many talents. Yesterday’s council meeting kicked off with Father Rueben Patino of St. Paul the Apostle Chapel praying and Mayor Bob leading us in pledging.

Every little girl adores her daddy and I was no exception. I wanted to be where he was most of the time. During his temper fits, though, I wanted to be as far from him as possible, but mostly I was his shadow. Daddies who shelter their girls from the dirt and grime of the world are making a big mistake because the world is dirty and grimy and who better to teach us about that than the man that loves us? If I had been a boy, my name was going to be Tommy Ray.

Clayton Allan Leckie, 79 of Horseshoe Bay, Texas passed away June 14, 2010 at his residence. Clayton was born April 29, 1931 in Penzance Saskatchewan, Canada to Elymer Robert and Theresa Deutscher Leckie and worked as a Horse Racing Official. Ruth Kizer Pence was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 15, 1935 and passed away in the comfort of her home in Sandy Harbor, Texas on June 11, 2010. Her life journey took her to Orange Texas, and then to Austin where she spent the majority of her life.
