Burnet County Election Results
Unofficial returns Tuesday night show that Sheila Frazier will face Casie Wills on April 13 to determine who will become the Republican Party candidate for District Clerk in Burnet County. Frazier received 2,571 votes (45.71%), Wills received 2,071 votes (36.82%), and incumbent Dana DeBerry gathered 982 votes (17.46%). Llano County Election Results
After the polls closed at 7 p.m. last night, Llano County Elections Administration Candy Kokernot and her staff tabulated the vote totals. Candidates and friends gathered at Llano County Clerk Bette Sue Hoy’s office on the courthouse square to watch as the vote totals were posted. Many more Llano residents waited at nearby Stonewalls Restaurant for the final results, escaping from the cold night air. Four Llano County races were contested in the Republican Primary.

Martin Tyson, Sr. of Horseshoe Bay, pled guilty to felony sale of unregistered securities on Feb. 23, 2010, and was ordered to pay $200,000 in restitution to 10 people who had invested in a purported Internet venture. Judge Israel Ramon of the 430th District Court in Hidalgo County also sentenced Tyson to 10 years of probation, 160 hours of community service, and ordered him to pay a fine of $7,500 as part of his Order of Deferred Adjudication & Community Supervision. Legendary golfer and golf course designer Jack Nicklaus will be in Horseshoe Bay tomorrow to discuss the progress of the construction of the Summit Rock Golf Course in Skywater Over Horseshoe Bay. With all departments showing profits compared to last year, the Llano Memorial Healthcare System is “well positioned” heading into March, a three pay period month, according to LMHS Director of Finance Charles Miffleton in his report to the LMHS Board of Directors at their regular monthly meeting on Thursday. Most months include two paydays since LMHS employees are paid every other Wednesday.

On Sunday, February 28th the parishioners of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church held their “Spring Fling Dinner” at Quail Point. Life on the Rocks
Every time the race for Governor of Texas comes along, I am reminded of a little tune that drove me completely nuts in the 1960s. How in the world I can still remember this little ditty 44 years later is beyond me, but I do: Eu-gene Locke should be Gov-er-nor of Texas, the Gov-er-nor of Texas should be Eu-gene Locke! With the power of Google at my fingertips, I decided to look up old Eugene and find out whatever happened to him.

The March 14th luncheon of The International Club will feature a presentation by David and Kay Rose and their former exchange student, Daniel Kristo, of Albania. The Roses lived in Sao Paulo Brazil from 1967 to 1973 as missionaries for Churches of Christ. They moved to Austin in 1973 and Kay resumed teaching public school while David enrolled at UT.

So you want to try your hand (or Green Thumb) at growing Asparagus? This crop seems to intimidate lots of gardeners. It is not that hard but it is time consuming to get a great harvest. Asparagus is grown from 1- or 2-yearold crowns planted in January or February, or as soon as the ground can be worked.
