HSB resident Wendell Gravley was in his home in Colorado Springs when he received notice from the manufacturer of his aircraft that his plane was just the right type to fly supplies to Haiti if he was willing to do so. Wendell was soon on his way to St. Simon, Georgia to pick up medical supplies from Citihope, an International Christian humanitarian relief agency.

The Horseshoe Bay Property Owners Association annual newsletter and ballot for new directors were mailed to property owners this week. HSB POA General Manager Tom Engler said ballots are due on or before the annual meeting which begins at 10 a.m. on March 20, 2010. Ballots may be mailed, dropped off at Quail Point, or voted in person at the annual meeting.

After the Horseshoe Bay City Council asked last month for volunteers to serve on a committee to evaluate the possible acquisition of the airport by the city, sixteen well qualified residents offered to serve. At its meeting on Tuesday, the council decided that a committee with sixteen members would be unworkable.

The Faith Academy varsity tennis team won first place in the team competition last week in Llano. Sarah Thomas won the girls’ singles division and Ashley Stallard and Nicole Johnson won the girls’ doubles championship. Taylor Hicks finished in fourth with partner Kristen Lookabaugh and Savannah Still was the girls’ singles fourth place winner.

The February meeting of the International Club, at Quail Point, featured speaker Rama Tiru, from Austin. Tiru is a professional photographer and she presented photographs taken while on tour in Tibet.
Tiru’s extensive collection of photographs depicted life in present day Tibet, as well as historic information about the country and the population.

A fatal car-truck head-on collision on the Hwy 281 bridge in Marble Falls claimed the life of Horseshoe Bay resident Christopher Smith on Wednesday morning. Officials said Smith was an employee of the Postal Service in Marble Falls. HSB Fire Engine #1 responded to the scene and later responded to a separate accident south of the bridge in the traffic jam caused by the original wreck.
