HAPPY THANKSGIVING HORSESHOE BAY!!
I have so much to be thankful for this year, and one of the things at the top of my list is surely living in our wonderful City of Horseshoe Bay. It is indeed difficult to thank every one of the dedicated City employees and businesses who keep our city running smoothly, but we want to thank the following individuals for representing the others.

In preparation for a newly mandated biennial audit by the Texas Comptroller’s Office, the Llano Central Appraisal District is updating agricultural exemptions that were filed more than five years ago. “We began mailing notices out in mid-October and sent our last batch last week,” said Clarence McDaniel, Chief Appraiser of Appraisers for the LCAD.

Pat Currie, Chief of Hospital Services for Scott & White Healthcare, has been a frequent visitor at the monthly board meetings of the Llano County Hospital Authority. Currie kicked it up a notch at the LCHA board meeting on Nov. 19 when she announced that Scott & White has elected to move up the targeted merger date with LCHA to May 31, 2010.

Area law enforcement teamwork leads to arrests
In the early hours on Friday, November 20, 2009, Blanco County Corporal Bob Morgan was in route to Cattleman’s National Bank Round Mountain location to look into a duress alarm that had been set off. He called for assistance from the Johnson City Police Department and Chief of Police Randy Holland responded.

The Hill Country 100 Club is the only citizen sponsored charitable organization established to support the families of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical service personal. At the special request of the City of Sunrise Beach, the 100 Club provided funding for the purchase of body armor for their police officers.

November has been an exciting month for the Hill Country Community Theatre.
Board of Governors Chairman Bill Goforth and Director Jim McDermott welcomed delivery of a new lighted sign from SignoGraphics Custom Signs in Marble Falls. Cottonwood Shores Mayor Bentley Martin paid his respects to the theatre during the installation of the new sign which will clearly mark the theatre’s presence to anyone driving down FM 2147.

The Highland Lakes Community Orchestra of Harmony School of Creative Arts is offering two Christmas season gifts of beautiful music. The day after the City of Horseshoe Bay’s council meeting last week, the Lower Colorado Water Authority Board lifted its mandatory watering restrictions for its “firm water customers” such as cities and industries.
The Horseshoe Bay City Council will meet again on Dec. 15. City Manager Stan Farmer says he will put consideration of the mandatory watering restrictions on the council’s agenda.

Members of the HSB Business Alliance met one last time to discuss final plans for the Dec 3rd Holiday Open House. For the past 3 months members of the alliance have been meeting to plan the music, entertainment, food and festivities for the 2nd annual celebration. The event will be stronger than ever, covering a larger area, more businesses, more entertainment and a few surprises.

While Horseshoe Bay Police Officer Thomas Kingery was conducting surveillance of known dump sites in HSB South on Nov. 15, he noticed a vehicle with occupants parked in the back of a cul-de-sac which had no houses. As he approached the vehicle, Kingery saw a young man place a scoped rifle in the back seat of the vehicle.
During his preliminary investigation, Kingery located a freshly killed twelve point buck laying in the brush near the vehicle.

Well, we tried. We wanted it so badly, but it was not to be. As happy as we are for Colt McCoy, we’re so sorry Kansas State has lost all Northern Exposure, and Nebraska prepares for the Big 12 title game. To you who took the money from the VFW Poppy container on November 11th (Veteran’s Day), I am sure you can use the money as well as the 20,000 plus disabled veterans in Texas hospitals.
So you won’t feel guilty, I have replaced the money you took so the veterans will not be deprived of any services they would have received without the money.
