After a five hour contested hearing on Monday, a bankruptcy judge granted the request of HB Texas Development Partners, LP (“debtor”) to sell its only asset, Skywater Over Horseshoe Bay, at auction on May 15. The sale, if approved, could wipe out $4.7 million owed to local businesses who worked on the Skywater project.

A small, festive cake signified a major accomplishment at the Llano County Hospital Authority Board of Directors regular meeting on March 26.
Board member Wayne Anderson, who also serves as President of the Lake of the Hills Regional Medical Center, announced that all steps have been completed to move forward on running utility lines to the future site of the regional hospital on Hwy 71, just west of its intersection with Hwy 281.

Brooke and Alan Pilibosian are organizing and sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt in Horseshoe Bay at Martin Park next to City Hall on April 11. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10:30 a.m. and is for children up to age 7. A Scavenger Hunt will be open to children age 8 and up.

The occasion was a luncheon benefiting Seton Highland Lakes Hospice and was organized by Friends of Hospice Highland Lakes, Inc. Moderator Yvonne Baugh pointed out that this was the 13th year the group had hosted the event, which included a delicious lunch and fashion show.

The Boys & Girls Club has helping kiddos down to a “tee.” The 3rd Annual Eagles and Aces Classic expects to raise thousands this month through golf and tennis competition.

The Good Neighbor Thrift Store opened its doors 10 years ago to help benefit families served by the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center. The store is located at 502 Hwy 1431 East in Marble Falls and is open Monday through Saturday to serve the community with a low cost shopping experience while also benefiting victims and survivors of family violence and sexual assault.

Last November I had the opportunity to write about a launch party for a great cookbook, Cooking With Les Dames d’Escoffier. The women who belong to this international organization are distinguished members of the food, beverage and hospitality industries. They join their considerable talents in various philanthropic endeavors to provide leadership and educational opportunities to aspiring culinary professionals.

Anthony James “Tony” Filek, 24, of Horseshoe Bay, TX died March 29, 2009.
Born April 15, 1984 in Portsmouth, VA, Tony was the son of James Anthony Filek & Cynthia Esther Attard. Tony had lived in Marble Falls since 1994 and attended Marble Falls High School. He served in the US Navy and owned and operated Pure Water Irrigation.
