One of the most remarkable occurrences in the first century was the explosive growth of Christian converts who risked death or torture to share their faith with friends and family, or with strangers whom they met in the marketplace. Led initially by the apostles, who had witnessed the earthly ministry of Jesus, and carried forward by second- and third-generation believers, Christianity became a fountain of blessings, spreading the message of hope and redemption wherever it went.
