Dear Editor,

BEAUTY - It was a beautiful, peaceful and tranquil community when everyone bought their homes. It was so unique to walk thru the winding roads and paths and see little red foxes, roadrunners, possums, raccoons, and deer. (Especially when you had spent your last working years in a large city.) These wild creatures all had a place to hide their young and escape from predators.

It once gave the homeowners a sense of pleasure to take a stroll through the community. The beautiful vacant lots, with their lovely green reflecting back from the side of the road, always brought a sense of serenity and calmness from the undisturbed natural setting.

BEAST = NOW, we are confronted with a hostile and unfriendly scene. It seems, that when we were not looking, they let some butchers loose who have maimed and truncated trees and shrubs that once marked the marvelous landscape that attracted us to the area. At first it seemed that they were just going to “trim” a few lots. NOW it has become a pestilence. People that once lived in their homes, with a sense of privacy and comfort, are now exposed to traffic and neighbors, to rocks, stumps and cactus. People with swimming pools, who use to enjoy their reclusive and private pools, are now looking over at the houses nearby and thinking that hundreds of eyes are watching.

Whoever decided this was beneficial to the neighborhood, must have a warped sense of humor. They apparently think the Horseshoe Bay homeowners suddenly decided, somewhere along the way, we would prefer an unfriendly and uninviting landscape (think of the moon’s surface) as opposed to the wonderful, natural setting that was God’s creation.
