William Henry Rieniets, Sr.

William Henry Rieniets, Sr., 85, passed away at his home in Horseshoe Bay, TX, on Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was born in Quenemo, Kansas to parents G.C. and Ethel E. Rieniets. Bill served in the Army Air Force during the years 1943-45. During that time, he met the love of his life at the Hollywood U.S.O., Jean M. Tankersley. They married in June of 1946, celebrating 65 happy years of marriage this year. Bill graduated with a B.S. in Earth Science from Kansas State University in 1950. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity while in college, played on the varsity basketball team for K-State and remained a loyal fan for life. Bills’ career led him through: U.S.G.S., The Kansas State Water Authority, Pure Oil Co. (Houston and New Orleans), American Petro Fina French Division (New Orleans and Houston), Omni Exploration Company (Radner, PA), Rosewood Resources (Dallas). Through his years he served in roles as a geologist, manager and executive management positions. Upon retirement, he and his wife, moved to Horseshoe Bay, TX on Lake LBJ. Bill was able to pursue his favorite passions of fishing, boating, golfing, bird hunting, poker nights, He served as Treasurer in ‘96-97 and Executive Vice-President ‘97-98 on the Board of Director’s Horseshoe Bay P.O.A., an usher/communion servant where he attended church at Horseshoe Bay Protestant Church. Bill loved his many friends and was a treasure to us all.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Thelma Reed , brother-in-law Quentin Reed, of Topeka, KS., and Austin Rieniets, great grandson, of Humble, TX.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, son, William H. Rieniets, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Humble, TX; daughter Karen J. LeDesma and husband Raymond of Marble Falls, TX; grandchildren: William D. Rieniets, Melissa Rieniets, Courtney Rieniets, of Humble, TX., Rogelio A. Borrego and wife Ana of Draper, UT, Matthew Gore of Marble Falls, TX, Aubri and Caeden LeDesma of Marble Falls, TX; great-grandchildren: Kristie and Karlie Rieniets of Humble, TX., Lily Rieniets of Humble, TX, Jillian and Andrew Borrego of Draper, UT.

Memorial service will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Church at Horseshoe Bay.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, The Church of Horseshoe Bay, or the Scott and White Wayne & Elaine Hurd Memorial Hospital of Marble Falls, TX.
