Here are a few reasons I am pursuing a seat on the Llano ISD School Board.

— I am leaving the teaching/coaching profession to open a private business in the City of Llano and this will provide me the opportunity to still make a difference in the lives of our children.

— I bring 17 years of educational experience to the table as a classroom teacher and coach.

— I strongly believe that the success of a school is dependent on the students and teachers.

— I will be the voice of the students and teachers and will stand up for and make decisions based on what is best for the students.

— I have a vested interest in Llano ISD. I have children enrolled in the school district.

— My stance on CSCOPE (the curriculum adopted by Llano ISD) is as follows: Every school district needs an aligned curriculum to meet the changing TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) requirements of the State of Texas. CSCOPE has three components that make up the curriculum: VAD (Vertical Alignment Document), YAG (Year at Glance Document), and IFD (Instructional Focus Document). I am in support of these three components which make up the curriculum portion of CSCOPE. The issue I have is with the non-curriculum components of CSCOPE and the way they are being implemented. The two non-curriculum components are: Exemplar Instructional Activities (classroom lessons) and Performance Indicators (tests). The lessons are written to provide classroom teachers an example of one way of teaching the material. Llano ISD administration is forcing teachers to use the example lessons, as written, with no variation. This is where we are losing the creativity of the teacher and the attention of the students. Teachers need the freedom to customize the lessons to meet the various learning styles in their classroom. Multiple resources need to be used to reach all levels of learners.

Hopefully this helps you understand my interest in serving on the Llano ISD School Board. Our children’s future is dependent upon the decisions we are making for them now. It is our duty to provide our children with the best possible education that will permit them to be a happy, productive and successful person.

Thank you for your time and support.
