Thursday, March 1

The Highland Lakes Birding and Wildflower Society will host guest speaker, Jean Nance, who will present the program “Useful Native Plants” at the Marble Falls Library at 9:30 am. Nance will explore both the historical and modern uses of Texas native plants in the Hill Country. The program is open to the public. For more information call Mary Ann Copp at (830) 598-5920.

Friday, March 2

The Kingsland Garden Club presents a free program “Succulents are Fun to Grow” given by Master Gardener Linda O’Nan at the Marble Falls Library. The meeting begins at 1pm with the program following at 1:45pm. All are welcome.

Saturday, March 3

Disaster Preparedness Workshop, Saturday from 8:30 am until 12:00pm at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 711 Broadway, Marble Falls. Learn specifically how to get your home and property safe and secure, as well as how to evacuate, before and if a disaster occurs. Guest Speakers Karen Stafford Wildland Urban Interface Specialist with the Texas Forest Service and Pat Moore, CBCP, FBCI, CERT, CASA, President, Highland Lakes VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster).

Monday, March 5

The Helping Center Craft Guild will meet at 9:30am Monday at the Church at Horseshoe Bay in classroom 1. All interested in joining are welcome. The Craft Guild makes items for their annual Bazaar, which benefits the Helping Center in Marble Falls. For more information call Mary Daniels at 596-0035.

Tuesday, March 6

The next P & Z Commission is Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The agenda will be available Friday, March 2.

Wednesday, March 7

The Llano Master Gardener Association and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will be kicking off classes leading to certification as a Texas Master Gardener on March 07, 2012. The program will run for 10 weeks through May 09 meeting every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes will be held in Llano with occasional field trips in the local area.

Cost of training, which includes classes, refreshments, first year’s dues, a soil test and a Master Gardener Handbook covering all areas of training is $150.00. Applications can be obtained from Vivian Horlen at the Llano County AgriLife Extension Service Office or by calling 325-247-5159. Class size is limited so please reserve your place early. We look forward to growing with you.

The Highland Lakes Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. at the Marble Falls Llibrary.

The International Club will meet Sunday at Quail Point. The program will be on Bolivia. The meeting will begin at 12:30 pm. with a potluck lunch. The Men of Faith at The Church at Horseshoe Bay will host a spring fellowship breakfast at 8 am in the fellowship hall at the Church. Dr. David Cook will be the speaker. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the church office during business hours.

HSB Business Alliance will hold its March coffee Wednesday morning from 9am - 10am at the American Bank located on 2147 in Horseshoe Bay. Plan to attend. Come and meet you neighbors.

Second Sunday of the Month

The International Club will meet on the second Sunday of the month at Quail Point, unless otherwise noted. Programs will be presented in February, March and April, following a potluck luncheon. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Lourdes Langston at 598-1322.

Every Monday

Party bridge for HSB residents-Quail Point, 1 to 4 p.m. You needn’t bring a partner, just join us and meet new friends.

The Hill Country Trekkers, a HSB based hiking group walks in parks and private ranches on Mondays September through May. They meet at 8:15 a.m. at Martin Park behind City Hall, to leave by 8:30 a.m. For more information contact trekkers@yahoo.com.
