Several hundred supporters attended the annual Hill Country 100 Club meeting and banquet at the Pavilion in Marble Falls on January 17. The event is held in honor of all of our first responders. The Hill Country 100 Club is a citizen based non-profit organization formed to support our local firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical service first responders in the Blanco, Burnet, and Lampasas and Llano counties.

HSB Police Captain Richard Baum, who is retiring after nearly forty years of law enforcement service, was honored at the January 22nd HSB City Council Meeting. Captain Baum began his law enforcement career in 1973 with the Alamogordo (New Mexico) Police Dept. He joined the Hobbs Police Dept. in 1976, and he and HSB Police Chief Bill Lane worked together in Hobbs for several years. Baum joined the HSB Police Dept.

In response to the announcement made late last Wednesday, Ron Mitchell, Vice Chairman and President of Horseshoe Bay Resort filled in City Council regarding the sale of the HSB Resort. After almost 20 years, the HSB Resort has been put up for sale; the Jaffe Group announced that is was time for another owner to come and ‘take it to the next level’.

The Llano ISD Board approved an order for a Bond Election on May 11, 2013. The amount of the bond is $5.8 million dollars. Due to an anticipated drop in the I&S tax rate, passage of the bond will not result in an increase in the I&S tax rate. The I&S tax rate will remain at the current rate of 12.8 cents per $100 valuation.
